by Tvadhanya 5D I have always loved nature …. Flowers, plants and trees, especially the liveliness and vibrant colors of flowers. But, now that I am researching on deforestation, I have realized there is more to trees and plants than just color and beauty. Trees are our life, our sustenance, our survival!! This realization made me take a lot of new, positive steps towards doing my own bit for a better tomorrow. I went and bought a mango plant from the nursery and planted it in the garden as my first positive step against deforestation. Here are some pictures of me planting the mango tree: |
now, I have promised myself that I will routinely water the plant every day before I leave for school. The good news is the mango plant has started budding and I am sure that it will fruit next year! Another positive step I have taken is to reduce the wastage of paper and I have started using one side printed computer paper for my work. I have also started doing something I have never ever done before: personally collecting and bundling old newspaper and sending it to the neighborhood waste paper merchant. This initiative of mine is a small step that will help reduce pressure on the fast depleting forest resources for paper.
I personally feel that this unit of deforestation has changed and altered my thought process. I have become more sensitive to my environment and aware of how I can help. I shall continue to do my bit for a greener world. I have also realized that the wild spread deforestation that is happening in this world is equivalent to “eco terrorism” and we all have to become one to deal with this terrorism.

I went campaigning in my community for my issue which is animal poaching. During campaigning,I developed my social skills and my communication skills. I also developed my confidence and the profile communicator. I informed people that animals are important for us and our environment too. Hence we should not kill animals. I had an amazing experience and learnt a lot.

I spoke with my maid about the different happenings in her community. She told me what, why and how there were different forms of abuse in the area. I spoke to her about how she could help in regulating these issues. I felt this was a great opportunity to improve my communication skills. I not only gained lot of confidence, I also learnt a lot about the life of rural minded people and the difficulties they face. This information would help me a lot in my PYPX.

I carried out the ‘each one teach one’ initiative by teaching my maid mathematics. This helps me acquire good communication skills through helping my maid.
